Therapy is a process that can help people identify more effective strategies both to cope with difficult situations and to achieve their goals.
While some people seek counseling to address chronic emotional difficulties, most are dealing with normal life events and are simply in need of an objective listener- someone who doesn’t judge and can help them see new alternatives.
Therapy is different for every person but all therapy will assess your current functioning and personal history. While in session we will explore patterns in behaviors, thoughts, feelings, and identify your personal goals to begin and prepare for fulfilling change.
The relationship between a client and their therapist is confidential. It is a safe space, designed to foster feelings of comfort and security that enables open discussion of the issues. Creating and fostering this environment allows clients to feel secure evaluating the behaviors, thoughts and feelings that are troubling and problematic.
This connection with a therapist is just as important as the issues that are brought forth in therapy. The goal is to create a partnership as we work together. My approach is to join with you, support you, listen attentively, give you appropriate feedback, and follow all ethical guidelines.
There are many amazing outcomes that can happen when an individual enters therapy with an open mind and preparation for personal change and growth.
These can include increased happiness and joy in their everyday lives, improved self-confidence, or deeper connections in their personal and professional relationships. Therapy provides the ability to understand and manage emotions, resulting in increased energy, better sleep, better overall self-care, and the pursuit of new or previous activities that brought joy.
Taking that first step to an initial meeting leaves many clients leaving their first session already feeling like the road to serenity is now within their reach.
